Liverpool coach, Jurgen Klopp, itted to experiencing trauma ahead of facing Manchester City in the 2020-2021 Premier League continued week. However, he did not want the trauma of this crushing defeat to repeat itself in the match which will take place at the Etihad Stadium, Sunday (8/11/2020).
At the last meeting, Liverpool had to it Man City’s victory at the Etihad with a score of 0-4. It was an embarrassing defeat because in that match, Liverpool had just been crowned champions of the 2019-2020 Premier League.
Klopp also itted that there was one weakness that made his team suffer a crushing defeat in that match. The German port coach considered that his foster children did not focus 100 percent until it was fatal.
“If you are not 100 percent focused on the match against Man City, you will lose big,” said Klopp, quoting from Liverpool’s official website, Sunday (8/11/2020).
Furthermore, Klopp felt that the defeat was a shock effect, where Liverpool had not tasted victory in the Premier League in 30 years. However, he also did not deny that his players became complacent after Liverpool confirmed themselves as champions.
“It (the 0-4 defeat to Man City) was the first time we won the league in England, so I don’t know how to prepare for the next game,” he continued.
“At that time I knew that my players wanted to win the match, but we were not as focused as usual in that match,” he continued.
“We still played good football that night, unfortunately we didn’t score and they scored four times,” he added.
“That’s how it is, but it was not the hardest defeat of my life,” added the former Borussia Dortmund coach.
Ahead of the match, Liverpool actually had the upper hand because they currently sit in second place in the 2020-2021 Premier League standings. Meanwhile, Man City are still stumbling in the middle of the table, placing 12th.
