Sebastian Fundora spirited 12-round split-decision win over Australian Tim Tszyu at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas on Sunday.
Speaking to the media after the fight, Fundora byed talk of a rematch with Tszyu and instead set his sights on a marquee matchup with Errol Spence Jr.
“I’m not going to lie, I want to fight the best. I want to fight Errol Spence Jr. next. I think that’s the fight that makes the most sense.” Fundora said.
“He’s the unified welterweight champion, and I’m the WBC interim champion. It’s a big fight, and I think it’s a fight that the fans would love to see.” Fundora added.
Fundora, who is now 20-0-1 with 13 knockouts, put on a show against Tszyu, landing some big punches and showing off his impressive boxing skills.
He was also able to withstand Tszyu’s power, and he never looked in danger of being stopped.
“I knew it was going to be a tough fight. Tim Tszyu is a good fighter, and he came to fight. But I was prepared for it, and I think I showed that I’m the better fighter.” Fundora said.
With the win, Fundora is now in line for a big fight, and he has made it clear that he wants to face the best. Spence Jr. is certainly a possibility, but there are other big fights out there for Fundora as well.
“I’m just going to keep fighting whoever they put in front of me. I’m here to fight the best, and I’m ready for whatever comes my way.” Fundora said.
However, Spence Jr. is not the only 154-pounder Fundora has his eyes on. The WBO is likely to order Fundora to face Terence Crawford, who is the WBO welterweight champion.
Crawford is a three-division world champion and is considered to be one of the best pound-for-pound fighters in the world. He is also a southpaw, which would give Fundora a different look than Tszyu.
“I’m not looking past Tim Tszyu. But if I get past him, I would love to fight Terence Crawford. He’s a great fighter, and I think it would be a great fight.” Fundora said.
