Brentford vs Manchester City Result: Score 2-2 r1e2r

Brentford and Manchester City had to settle for a 2-2 draw in the 21st week of the 2024/2025 Premier League held at the Gtech Community Stadium, Tuesday (14/1/2025).

City took a two-goal lead through two goals scored by Phil Foden. However, Brentford refused to give up and managed to catch up through goals from Yoane Wissa and Christian Norgaard.

Thanks to this result, City now sits in seventh place in the standings with 35 points. Meanwhile, Brentford is in 10th place with 28 points.

See the full summary of the match below.

Despite City dominating possession, Brentford put up a solid fight.

Josko Gvardiol almost opened the scoring for City with a powerful shot that was saved by Mark Flekken.

On the other side, the combination of Yoane Wissa and Bryan Mbeumo was a constant threat to the City defense, although their efforts were fruitless by half-time.

Man City dominated possession from the start of the match. However, Pep Guardiola’s team struggled to break down the home team’s defense. The score remained 0-0 until halftime.

Returning from the dressing room, City finally managed to break the deadlock in the 66th minute. Kevin De Bruyne’s measured cross was tapped in by Foden to beat Mark Flekken.

Brentford managed to reduce the deficit in the 82nd minute. Getting the ball in front of City’s goal, Wissa easily broke through Stefan Ortega’s goal from close range. Brentford became more enthusiastic in catching up. The hosts managed to equalize the score in the second minute of injury time through Norgaard’s goal. The final score of the match was 2-2.

Phil Foden deserves to be chosen as the best player from the Brentford vs Manchester City duel.

Foden was the most shining player in this match. The 24-year-old winger scored two goals for City.

In addition to scoring two goals, Foden also consistently terrorized Brentford’s defense by creating three chances, touching the ball 10 times in the opponent’s penalty box, and winning four duels.

Unfortunately, Foden was pulled out in the 87th minute. After that, City conceded a second goal and the victory in sight had to be shattered.

The result was a blow for Manchester City, who failed to capitalise on top-four rivals Chelsea’s draw at Bournemouth.

City’s inconsistent form this season was again evident, although Kevin De Bruyne was the driving force in attack, providing two assists for Foden.
