FA Cup Semifinal Results: Chelsea Beat Man City 3x1d4r

Chelsea won 1-0 over Manchester City in the FA Cup semi-final at Wembley Stadium, London, Saturday (17/4).

The Blues kicked off in the early minutes of the match. Entering the sixth minute Hakim Ziyech thrilled the Man City goal, but the assistant referee raised the flag for offside.

Manchester Blue responded with a Gabriel Jesus strike from distance in the 11th minute. The ball Jesus released could still be caught by Kepa Arrizabalaga.

Chelsea’s planned attack is enough to bother the Premier League leaders. Ben Chilwell had a chance to bring Chelsea ahead in the 19th minute, it’s just that his first time kick couldn’t direct the ball to the goal.

Chelsea is quite dominant in the first half. Thomas Tuchel’s play was able to dampen Man City. An opportunity from Reece James’ kick was wide of the Man City goal.

The Citizens just got another chance at the end of the first half through Fernandinho’s header which was still wide.

In the second half Man City tried to appear more dominant. When Man City tried to show a different performance Kevin De Bruyne had to be pulled out due to an injury. Phil Foden comes in.

The 55th minute the score changed. Chelsea winning 1-0. A simple and fast attack was built by Chelsea. The ball from Mason Mount is chased by Timo Werner who runs on the left side. Werner then released the ball into the middle corridor which was greeted by Ziyech’s final kick.

Four minutes after the goal, Ziyech again had the opportunity to widen the lead. But this time his shot was weak and can be anticipated by goalkeeper Zack Steffen.

Man City tried to take the initiative to attack and Chelsea held deeper. The ball was mostly rolling in the Chelsea game area, despite Ziyech and friends’ counterattacks.

Man City had a chance to score an equalizer, but nothing to really convert. In fact, it was Christian Pulisic who broke into Man City’s goal, but was later ruled out for offside.

An opportunity for Man City in the final minutes of the match was thwarted by Kepa. Chelsea’s superiority lasted until the end of the match and ensured the London club to the FA Cup final. In the final, Chelsea will face the winner between Southampton and Leicester City.
