Ilya ‘m0NESY’ Osipov’s time with G2 Esports has come to an end after CEO Alban ‘Stilgar’ Dechelotte confirmed the star AWPer’s transfer to Team Falcons. Although his contract with G2 was set to expire in December, the decision to release m0NESY early was made to give the team more time to rebuild.
The move reunites m0NESY with his former teammate Nikola ‘NiKo’ Kovač, who recently won the PGL Bucharest 2025 title with a dominant win over G2. Fans can watch m0NESY make his debut with Team Falcons at the BLAST.tv Austin Major, which is scheduled to take place on June 6, 2025.
In his explanation, Stilgar revealed that the uncertainty of m0NESY’s future was starting to affect the team’s dynamics.
“He was increasingly disconnected from the team, and it was difficult to have meaningful conversations with potential talents without clarity on his future,” he wrote.
The decision was made to ensure that G2 could make the most of the final three tournaments of the season while preparing for the next one with great ambition. Stilgar also expressed his gratitude to m0NESY for the magical moments he has given them during his three years with G2.
In his farewell, m0NESY expressed his deep gratitude to G2 and its fans:
“This team is my home, my second family. Thank you for everything. The story ends here. But the story inside—never.”
m0NESY will replace Abdul ‘degster’ Gasanov on Team Falcons, a player who was previously named MVP at PGL Bucharest 2025. G2 has yet to announce an official replacement for m0NESY. However, a report from HLTV states that the organization is in advanced talks to loan Aleksander ‘hades’ Miśkiewicz from Monte.
The transfer marks a new chapter for m0NESY and Team Falcons, while also opening up a major rebuilding opportunity for G2 Esports. Global fans are now looking forward to how m0NESY and Falcons will perform in tournaments.
