Andrea Iannone is not satisfied with the 2018 Suzuki GSX-RR, considering that it is necessary to improve. The Italian rider was third on the opening day of MotoGP tests at Losail in Qatar, and missed the final day due to illness.
Speaking on Friday, the 28-year-old rider itted after the last season he was never happy with his 2017 Suzuki bike, but testing at Losail has gone much better.
“We started these tests well and in Thailand and Sepang, I was in trouble from that point of view, and it’s much better now. I can attack. I’m not the rookie who gets excited by finishing a day fastest. We are here for different reasons.” Iannone said.
“There are other reasons, I try to keep fighting for good positions. I am being honest, and I don’t want to make fun of anyone.
“Being the fastest rider doesn’t count for anything, we need to understand what will happen on the race weekend.” Iannone added.
According to Autosport, Suzuki’s 2017 MotoGP season has been hampered by Iannone choosing the wrong specification of engine to be homologated in winter testing in 2016.
“I’m calm because the moment I can ride the bike very good, but in the race simulation we can’t hide, we suffer too much, I like we did in 2017.” Iannone said.
“This is because the bike gets nervous when the tyre drops, especially at the front. This is why we still have to work on some aspects. I am happy with our speed, but not 100% satisfied.
“We have limits, on the straights we have a lot of trouble overtaking, for example. We are slow. This is something we need to fix ahead of the race.” former Ducati’s added.

From the beginning, Iannone and his team-mate Alex Rins faced serious difficulties and finished the 2017 season without getting a single podium.
Last season proved to be more difficult than Iannone expected. After the first test at Valencia he thought he could achieve good results. He had to start from zero.
Ahead of the season opener in Qatar, Iannone expected a better 2018 season with Suzuki. This season will spot his second year on Japanese bike.
