Indonesia’s Draw Against Laos Marked with Marselino’s Red Card 23h5i

The Indonesian national team had to be satisfied with sharing points after drawing 3-3 against Laos in the second match of Group B of the 2024 AFF Cup at the Manahan Stadium, Solo, Thursday (12/12/2024) evening local time.

Laos managed to surprise Indonesia with a goal in the ninth minute. The goal was scored by Phousomboun Panyavong after his shot changed direction because it hit Kakang Rudianto’s leg.

The Indonesian national team then reacted well. Kadek Arel managed to break into Laos’ goal 3 minutes after Indonesia conceded.

Kadek Arel made the most of the melee in the penalty box. Kadek Arel’s hard right-footed kick flew into Laos’ goal.

Not long after the goal, Laos surprised the Indonesian national team again. In the next attack scheme, Laos managed to shake Indonesia’s goal in the 13th minute.

Player number 10 Phatana Phommathep was in a free position when he received the ball. Phommathep fired a hard shot that touched Kadek Arel and made it difficult for Daffa Fasya to hold the ball.

The match became more intense and the Indonesian National Team equalized again in the 18th minute. This goal started from Arhan’s throw-in scheme which resulted in a goal thanks to Ferrari’s touch.

The four goals scored were the end of the first half. The score was a 2-2 draw between Indonesia vs Laos.

Coach Shin Tae Yong tried to make changes in the second half. Three players were brought in, namely Asnawi Mangkualam, Zanadin Fariz, Victor Dethan replacing Kakang Rudianto, Rayhan Hannan and Hokky Caraka.

Indonesia got a chance to score a goal in the 53rd minute. Arhan made a long-range throw which was then headed by Asnawi but the ball that was heading towards the goal was still blocked by the visiting team’s goalkeeper.

Seven minutes later it was Struick’s turn to get a chance. The Brisbane Roar player fired a shot from inside the penalty box. But unfortunately the ball still went over the crossbar.

The Indonesian National Team’s efforts to get 3 points in this match were even more difficult because Marselino Ferdinan was given a red card in the 68th minute due to a hard foul on a Laos player.

Playing with 10 men, the Indonesian National Team was actually able to turn the game around to lead 3-2 over Laos. Muhammad Ferarri’s header took advantage of Dony Tri Pamungkas’ corner kick.

Laos was again able to break through Indonesia’s goal in the 76th minute. Soukphachan Lueanthala’s short in the penalty box was converted into a goal by Peter Phanthavong through a tap towards the goal and made the score 3-3.

Laos played hard after equalizing to 3-3. Several tackles were made to stop the Indonesian National Team’s attack.

Asnawi was fouled by Laos player Hanthavong in the final minutes of injury time in the second half. However, the referee did not award a penalty even though the Port FC player’s progress was clearly stopped by the opponent in the penalty box. The draw score did not change until the end of the match.
