Red Sparks was overtaken by Hillstate in the Korean volleyball league standings so Megawati Hangestri Pertiwi and friends had to win the last match to secure second place.
Hillstate is now ranked runner-up in the Korean volleyball league with 66 points after winning 3-1 (26-24, 25-12, 20-25, 25-12) over AI Peppers which was the last match of the regular phase.
Hillstate successfully shifted Red Sparks strengthened by Megawati who had to drop to third place in the Korean Volleyball League standings.
Meanwhile, Red Sparks will play their last match of the regular phase on Wednesday (3/19) against Hi .
This match will be the deciding factor for Red Sparks in locking in second place or becoming runner up in the regular round of the Korean Volleyball League.
Hillstate now has 66 points from 36 matches, or only three points ahead of Red Sparks.
Megawati and her friends have certainly secured their ticket to the playoff round, but to occupy second place, Red Sparks must win over Hi .
Not just winning, Red Sparks must win 3-0 or 3-1 over Hi in order to get three points. If they can add three points, Red Sparks will have 66 points or the same as Hillstate.
Although the points are equal, Red Sparks is superior to Hillstate because they have more wins over the team from Suwon.
Later in the playoff round, the second-placed team will face the third-placed team. The winner of the match will then face the Pink Spiders as the regular phase champion.
The team that is ranked second has an advantage when facing the third-placed team in the form of a greater number of home games.
In a best of three format match, the second-placed team will host two games. Meanwhile, the third placed team will only host their opponent once.
