Sunny Edwards and Adrian Curiel are officially set to face off in a flyweight bout on June 29.
The highly anticipated flyweight fight between Edwards and Curiel will take place at the Footprint Center in Phoenix, Arizona.
This venue has been chosen to host the event, which will also feature the Juan Francisco Estrada vs. Jesse Rodriguez RING/WBC 115-pound championship fight as the main event.
Edwards, a former world champion, boasts an impressive record of 20 wins and 1 loss, with 4 knockouts. The 28-year-old British boxer is known for his technical skills and has previously held the IBF flyweight title.
On the other hand, Curiel, hailing from Mexico, has a record of 24 wins, 5 losses, and 1 draw, with 5 knockouts. Curiel is a former IBF light flyweight champion and is determined to make a comeback after suffering a defeat in his last fight.
“This is a great fight between two men desperate to get back to the top,” Eddie Hearn, chairman of Matchroom Sport said.
“Sunny was a World champion for a long time. When that feeling goes, you want to get it back as soon as possible”
“Adrian only just tasted that for himself for a short time. So, both men know that this is a must-win fight to get back into the mix. [It] comes as the chief to one of the biggest fights of the year.” Hearn added.
Both Edwards and Curiel are eager to get back to winning ways and regain their status as world champions.
