Los Angeles Lakers coach, JJ Redick, was very unhappy with his team after they lost to the Chicago Bulls on Saturday.
The Lakers were beaten by a huge margin of 31 points. They also allowed the Bulls to score 146 points in the game, which took place on the Lakers’ home court.
“I love my team. I love those guys. That was the worst our defense has looked, frankly. Maybe all year, but certainly in the last three months,” Redick said.
The Lakers were doing great, winning 18 of their last 20 games when Luka Doncic ed the team. But then, LeBron James got injured, and it was a tough time ahead.
They had to play six games in only eight days, facing strong teams like the Milwaukee Bucks, Denver Nuggets, and Boston Celtics. This made everything more challenging for them.
The Lakers are performing well and are likely to reach the playoffs. They have won 43 of their 70 games, placing them in fourth spot in the challenging Western Conference.
They are just three games ahead of the Los Angeles Clippers, who hold the seventh spot despite this strong performance.
The Lakers are scheduled to play two games against the Oklahoma City Thunder and the Houston Rockets.
Additionally, they will face off against the Memphis Grizzlies and the Golden State Warriors.
If the Lakers don’t perform well in these matchups, there is a chance they could slip further down in the standings.
This might lead to them ending up behind the very teams they are competing with in these games.
The Lakers have really improved, becoming the fifth-best team in defense in the NBA. This is why it was surprising when they scored 146 points against the Bulls.
On the other hand, Chicago also caught people’s attention by putting up 40 points in both the third and fourth quarters, showing that both teams had strong performances in that game.
