Striker Lamine Yamal has been the main highlight of Barcelona’s struggles so far.
Yamal was only 17 but he was key to Barcelona’s championships in La Liga and Copa del Rey and is one of the world’s top candidates to win the Ballon d’Or.
Former Real Madrid Manager Zidane recently spoke to Foot-Mercato, talking about Barcelona’s rising superstar.
Zidane had never witnessed a player perform as well as Yamal did in the Champions League semi-final.
“When you see him play, for example, the second half he played against Inter in the Champions League semi-finals, I have never seen anything like that in my life.” Zidane said.
“It is impressive to see someone who dominates his art like that on the pitch.” Zidane added.
Since leaving Real Madrid in 2021, Zidane has not coached any club and he also expressed his wish to coach the French national team at some point.
“Of course it is a wish to be the coach of . But we have a coach, we have a team and we need to respect all of it which is what we do.” Zidane said.
“Yet, if the time arrives, it will be a nice experience if I am given the chance.” Zidane added.
Even though Barcelona was eliminated, Coach Hansi Flick’s team put on an exciting performance against Inter Milan. The Cules suffered defeats in the early phase, losing 2-0 to close the first half.
The Catalan team came back to the challenge in the second half and quickly achieved qualification.
The three goals were scored by Eric Garcia, Dani Olmo and Raphinha. Yamal had nothing to do with the goals, but he was outstanding during the game.
sco Acerbi scored another goal for Inter Milan with just a few minutes left and the match ended all tied at 3-3. During extra time, Davide Fratessi found the winning goal for the Italian team.
